What Are IBM Cognos 10 Bullet Charts?

Cognos 10 marks a significant improvement in a new charting engine. Charts are without a doubt, a very powerful tool to deliver information. The chart enhancements made in IBM Cognos 10 focus on improving the effectiveness of this communication. This article discusses the Bullet Chart.   Bullet charts are variation of bar charts. They compare a featured measure to a targeted measure. A bullet chart features a single primary measure, such as current revenue. It compares that measure to one or more other measures, such as the target or planned revenue, and displays it in the context of a qualitative range of performance, such as poor, satisfactory, or good. A Bullet Chart Contains: A bullet measure, which appears by default as a blue bar in the chart. A target measure, which appears as a dash in the chart. Cognos Mobile - Estimate the Size of a Report

You can use typical reports to determine the size of the content that is transferred over the wireless carrier's network to the mobile device. Procedure 1. Remove all reports from the mobile device. 2. Run the report that you want to know the size of. 3. On your desktop browser, type the following request: http://servername/alias/cgi-bin/cognos.cgi/mobileService?mob_op=about 4. If you have security enabled, log in. Ensure that you log in as the same user that ran the report on the mobile device. A small XML document appears. Within the document there is a section that looks like the following example showing the number 28. The actual number you see depends on your report: <s2><inbox>28</inbox></s2> Note: Because you only have one report, only one number should appear. If you see multiple numbers separated by colons, this means that you did not delete all the reports. You must delete all the reports and repeat the steps above. 5. Type the following request,

Page-Wise Total in Report Studio Report

The purpose of this technique is to display the page wise total of measures used in the report.  Steps  Launch Report Studio using GO Sales and Retailers package.  1. In Report Page, drag and drop a list object, add query items Order number, Retailer name, Order date and Revenue from query subject Orders into the list.  2. Define the List property – Rows Per Page as 20. 3. In Query1 add two data items.              1. Define Count as expression running-count(1) and             2. PageNo as expression ceil([Count]/20)  4. Add query item PageNo to the list and group it.  5. Define Aggregate - Total to the column Revenue.  6. Select the Summary cell and click the Split Cell icon.  7. Select the List Cell and Column PageNo and define the property Box Type to None.  8. Execute the report, Each page will have page wise total for Revenue.  This report has been tested in Cognos 8.4
